For these sandals, we set out together: my brother, my father and I. In search of the best sandal maker in Europe. It was not a simple search, because in the past we spent many years making sandals in our own factory. That experience changes the way you look. More critically. More precisely. Especially when it comes to styles that have been part of your collection for so long.
That is why we drove to Spain, to Elche and the surrounding area. A region with a rich tradition in sandals and shoemaking. Even in winter, you immediately feel a different rhythm there than in the Netherlands: the light, the landscape, the climate and the warmth of the people all leave an impression. It is a place where craftsmanship and everyday life come together in a very natural way.
We did not arrive there empty-handed. Alongside our own experience, we brought a bag full of lasts, patterns, sketches and references — the tangible things that carry years of knowledge, development and attention. They helped guide our conversations and made clear exactly what we were looking for: sandals that feel right in every detail, from construction to comfort.
During this trip, we were accompanied by a sandal sole manufacturer we have worked with for more than ten years. A partner who knows our brand well and understands exactly what we look for. Thanks to their valuable introduction, we were able to visit several factories and ultimately choose a partner we are truly happy with.
We now produce our sandals in this factory, including our bestsellers: the Originals, as we now call them. Styles that have sometimes been part of our collection for ten years or more. That is exactly what makes the process so precise. The quality, the comfort, the finishing and the overall feel all have to match exactly what we have in mind. At the same time, this partnership has also created room for something new. Together with this factory, we have enthusiastically developed new styles and expanded our collection in a natural way.
The fact that we were able to make this journey together with my father made it even more meaningful. With more than forty years of experience as director of our former factory, he brings a perspective that is incredibly valuable. It shows what a family business means to us: looking together, weighing every decision together, and building lasting quality together.
That is also why production in and around Europe still feels right to us. Not only because of quality and shorter transport lines, but also because it allows us to see for ourselves how things are made. It matters to us that everything meets the right standards, but personal contact matters just as much. We want to know who we work with and be able to look the people behind the product in the eye.
We are proud to offer these sandals online for the first time. Made in a newly selected factory we chose with great care — for styles that have been loved for years, and for new designs that enrich the collection in a natural way.
